Privacy policy

Camerture is private by design: the app processes your camera image on your Mac and never sends it anywhere. This policy explains which personal data the website and the app do handle, why, and what your rights are.
Who is responsible
A.C.R. van Hooff, Partida Almoroig, 13, 03830 Muro de Alcoy, Spain, NIF Z3009099Z, is responsible (the "controller") for your personal data. Questions about privacy go to [email protected].
The app
- Camerture processes your camera's video only on your Mac. Video, images and settings never leave your Mac, and we have no access to them.
- The app contains no analytics, tracking or advertising.
- When you activate Camerture, and then about once a day, the app checks your licence with camerture.com. That request contains your licence key, an ID for your Mac (a code calculated from its hardware number, which doesn't reveal the number itself), your Mac's name, the app's version number and your IP address. We keep the Macs your licence is activated on, so it works on up to 2 Macs and you can see and remove them in your account.
- Once a day, and when you choose "Check for Updates…", the app asks camerture.com whether there's a new version. That request contains your licence's ID number (only licence holders get updates), the app's version number and your IP address.
What the website collects
When you buy: your email address and country, and if you buy for a company, its name, VAT or tax number and address. We also keep the price, VAT and currency and, because EU VAT law requires proof of where you are, the country of your IP address (from Cloudflare) and the country of your card or bank (from Mollie). For EU VAT numbers, we keep the result of the check in the EU's VIES system. We never receive your full card or bank details; Mollie handles those.
Your account: your email address, your name if you give it, your licences, orders and language. There's no password: you sign in with a link we email you. Your licence key contains your email address, so the app can show who the licence belongs to.
Team and Business: when you hand out a key, you give us that person's email address. We create an account for them and email them their key. Only enter the addresses of people who expect it.
Emails: we only send emails you need for your purchase and account: your licence key, your invoice, sign-in links and keys from your team. No newsletters or marketing.
Technical data: like every website, our server and Cloudflare process your IP address and browser details to show pages and protect the site against abuse. Errors can end up in technical logs.
Why we use it
- To sell and deliver Camerture, run your account, deliver updates and help you: this is needed for our contract with you (GDPR article 6(1)(b)).
- For invoices, VAT and accounting: Spanish tax and commercial law and EU VAT rules require it (article 6(1)(c)).
- For security and to prevent fraud and misuse of licence keys: our legitimate interest in a safe shop and working licences (article 6(1)(f)).
We don't use your data for advertising, don't build profiles and never sell it.
Cookies
We only use cookies the website needs to work, so we don't ask for permission:
camerture-sessionkeeps your language, your checkout and your sign-in. It expires after two hours of inactivity.XSRF-TOKENprotects forms against misuse and expires at the same time.remember_web_…keeps you signed in until you sign out.
Cloudflare may set a cookie to recognise bots. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Mollie's payment pages have their own cookies and privacy statement.
Who we share data with
Only with the services we need to run Camerture. They process data for us under data processing agreements, except Mollie, which is responsible for payment data itself.
- Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany: hosts our server, in Germany.
- Cloudflare, Inc., USA: delivers the website and protects it against attacks.
- Mollie B.V., the Netherlands: processes payments, under its own privacy statement.
- Holded Technologies S.L., Spain: our invoicing and accounting software; receives your order and invoice details.
- Mailgun (Sinch), servers in the EU: sends our emails.
- GitHub, Inc., USA: stores the app's download files. When you download Camerture or an update, your Mac fetches the file directly from GitHub, which sees your IP address.
- The European Commission (VIES): checks EU VAT numbers when you buy for a company.
- Our tax adviser and the tax authorities, where the law requires it.
Cloudflare and GitHub are based in the USA. Both are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, and the transfers are also covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Orders, invoices and VAT evidence: as long as Spanish tax and commercial law requires, usually six years after the year of the sale, and ten years for sales under the EU's One-Stop Shop.
- Your account and licences: as long as you have your account. You can delete it in your account settings or by emailing us; we keep only the records the law requires.
- Sign-in links expire after 30 minutes (the one in your licence email after seven days).
- Technical logs: a few weeks at most.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to its use, and receive it in a machine-readable format. Email [email protected]; we reply within a month. Because the email address is part of your licence key, changing it means we issue you a new key.
If you think we're handling your data wrongly, you can complain to the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, or to the authority in your own EU country.
Children
Camerture is sold to adults. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 14.
Changes
When we change how we handle data, we update this page; the date at the top shows the latest change.
